Thoa Mai is a Thai phrase which translates to “Wooden Table”.
It is also a restaurant which was first established in Thailand in 1998 by Manop and Siri. It remained open until 2008, which is when Manop and Siri moved to live in Australia. They have since reopened Thoa Mai in Geelong, Australia in 2017.
Best food ingredients
Manop and Siri were both born into families who were passionate about cooking. After they were married they decided to turn this passion into a business and opened the restaurant, but at this time they did not have a name worked out for their business.
The process
This was until one of their regular customers started calling their restaurant “Thoa Mai” because all their furniture was made from wood.
